How it works
Blue Life es PADI 5 Star IDC Resort desde 2017 y el único centro de San Andrés que forma instructores PADI: el curso de instructor PADI (IDC, Instructor Development Course) en Colombia. Programamos el IDC según el calendario PADI de exámenes, en español o en inglés.
The program prepares you for the instructor exam (IE) with direct mentoring from Course Director Fabián García, a PADI instructor since 1999. You receive the e-learning material from enrollment and pre-IDC preparation at no cost.
Besides the course, we help you with your professional resume, a photo session and career advice after you graduate, and you dive free at Blue Life for life.

What requirements do I need for the IDC?
Certification and experience
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be certified as a recreational diver for at least 6 months.
- Be a PADI Divemaster (or an equivalent leadership level from another recognized agency).
- Logbook: 60 logged dives to start the IDC and 100 to take the IE.
First aid
- Current EFR certification in primary and secondary care (CPR and first aid), from the last 24 months.
- The EFR Instructor course is part of the IDC, before the final exam.
Documentation
- Dive medical form signed by a physician, from the last 12 months.
- Copy of your dive certifications from entry level up to Divemaster, if they are not PADI.
- Current PADI Pro membership with no open quality management cases.
Estudio
- Official IDC materials (Instructor Crew-Pak, teaching guide and exams).
- Complete the PADI IDC eLearning before the in-person phase.
- Mastery of physics, physiology, environment, equipment and RDP tables, and of confined water skills.
Are the PADI fees included?
No. PADI fees (application and IE) are paid separately.
When is the next IDC?
The next IDC with PADI exam is from November 23 to December 5, 2026. In 2027: February 1–12, April 19–30 and November 15–24. Open the dates question to sign up.
What language is the course in?
In Spanish or English.
What happens if I have to cancel?
The deposit is non-refundable and covers the cost of materials.
Which package is right for me?
The Basic OWSI certifies you as an instructor. MSDT Preparation adds 5 instructor specialties and MSDT Plus adds the boat captain license, which expands your job options.
What are the next IDC dates?
IDC + PADI exam dates in San Andrés. Each date includes the IDC and the instructor exam (IE). Only these dates are available.

Blue Life US$2,700 (IDC course US$2,460 + Emergency Oxygen Provider and Nitrox Instructor US$240). PADI US$1,260 (IE exam).
MSDT Prep — US$4,610
Blue Life US$3,180 (IDC course + MSDT Prep US$2,700 + 5 instructor specialties US$480). PADI US$1,430 (IE exam US$1,260 + MSDT application fee US$170).
MSDT Plus Tec Deep — US$5,010 in 2026 and US$5,410 in 2027
